The client wanted their kitchen to function as a part of their main living space. They also wanted smarter storage – their existing kitchen had plenty of room, but it didn’t function the way they needed it to. They needed to improve the flow, as well as update the finishes from the old oak builder-basic cabinetry that they had had for so many years.
Design in Details
We updated the layout of the kitchen, as well as created a new pantry in space that wasn’t being utilized in a bedroom on the opposite wall. The kitchen was upgraded with custom cabinetry in a beautiful dark brown wood, including upper lighted display cabinets to show off their pottery collection without placing it in a dated hutch that took up space.
The new layout included a large island in dark blue with warm countertops that accented the soft taupe countertops in the rest of the kitchen. Hand-blown glass pendant lights over the island tie in to the owner’s hobby of creating stained glass art, and the blue tiled backsplash complements the soft blue on the walls.
The new pantry features built-in wine storage, and a deep aqua green paint color that complements the unique wallpaper on the back wall.
